North Sea Offshore 2019 - Seizing the opportunities of energy transition

Yesterday, at the North Sea Offshore 2019 (https://northseaoffshore.com) in Den Helder, the Netherlands, the future of the Offshore Industry was discussed. Den Helder is one of the main ports for transfer to offshore workplaces, as well by helicopter as by boat. Main topics of discussion were the energy transition and speed with which this is happening, the re-use and decommissioning of oil and gas infrastructure, which will increase over the next decades, and the North Sea Infrastructure of the future. The North Sea will be (and become) a place to enable energy transition (wind, solar, oil & gas, hydrogen), with resilient ecosystems, sustainable food supply and multiple use of space (surface mineral extraction, CO2 storage, cables and pipelines, shipping, anchorages, defence, fishing and aquaculture, underwater cultural heritage, tourism and recreation, aviation, a.o). A significant reduced contribution of hydrocarbons is expected in the future energy mix.

Much is there to read as well in the policy study of PBL (Plan Bureau Leefomgeving) Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency in the study: The Future of the North Sea - The North Sea in 2030 and 2050: a scenario study

Increase of the oil prices were expected by 2025, as indicated by Rabobank. The emphasis on increasing efficiency of operations and reducing cost levels will remain a fact for companies in the offshore industry. The energy transition and the North Sea as a place for multiple use will maintain to provide many new opportunities as well. Many new strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring and recovery activities are to be expected for the entire industry. Crossings Advisory is participating and contributing to events like the North Sea Offshore Conference in order to be able to continu seizing opportunities for our offshore clients.

A big thank you to many leading offshore companies for their contributions to this event like NAM, Shell, Bluestream Offshore, DHSS, CHC, Neptune Energy, Offshore Boarding, Intramar, Den Helder Airport, Port Of Den Helder, VDR, Stemar Engineering, Sea Mar, RABO, Lion, Dutch Offshore Academy, GN Rope Fittings, Peterson, Navingo, NHN, Oceanwide, Noordwest, Den Helder, Tennet, Vattenfall, and many others.
